Autographed Sohna shirt won
The autographed shirt of Gambia and Sandefjord hard tackling midfielder Ebrima Sohna, which was staged as a competition in the Gambia’s most popular Monday night sports show (Sports File) on West Coast Radio has being won by an Africell subscriber.
Listeners were asked to predict the score between English Champions Manchester United and Italian giants Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) in their last 16 meeting of the UEFA Champions League tie at the San Siro stadium in Milan on Tuesday night. And 1,624 entries were sent to our different numbers out of which only 40 entries were able to get the score right which was a 0-0 draw.
The 40 numbers were put in a hat and the Africell subscriber number (7086297) came out and therefore was declared the winner.
The shirt won is the Number 15 jersey the Gambian international worn at his club Sandefjord in Norway signed and presented to West Coast Radio’s Managing Director Mr Peter Gomez by the player himself during the winter holidays in Banjul.
According to Mr Gomez, he thanked Sohna for donating the jersey to West Coast Radio but the reason why he decided to give it out to the listeners is because they listened to our programmes and hear us talked about Sohna every time.
He told Gambia Sports Online that fans always put on the shirts of their heroes from Europe and they also need to put on their local heroes.
“We thanked Sohna for donating us the jersey because he also appreciates our work of talking about him and other players everyday.
“But we also want to pay back our listeners for listening to our programmes because if we are a radio station that don’t talked about Sohna, and other players he (Sohna) will not even thought about coming on a holiday and donate us a shirt so that’s why we decided to give it to our listeners.
“Also many Gambians put on the shirts of their favoured players across Europe but few put on the shirts of our local heroes and we also want to give them a chance to put on their players shirts” Mr Gomez told gambiasports.gm.
