Gambia Ports Authority will go clear at the top of the First Division table if they avoid defeat to Champions Gambia Armed Forces in a rescheduled fixture on Wednesday.

Peter Bonu Johnson’s side currently trailed leaders Gamtel by a single goal difference with both teams on 17 points but the Dock Yard Boys have a great chance of making the top spot their own when they take on the Soldiers at the Independence Stadium.

A victory will take them three clear of the Telecom Boys but there is more at stake than the top spot because if the Champions could win, they will close the gap to within a single point of the top two so it is set for a trilling encounter.

The Gambian Soldiers dispatched Samger 2-0 at the weekend with strikes from Buba Sama and Ousman Jagne and will again rely on this players to provide the goals but the newly promoted side are also coming off at the back of an impressive 2-0 derby win of Real de Banjul.

Few will fancy the chances of Peter Bonu Johnson’s side at the beginning of the season but the former National U-20 Coach [with a very good reputation] and his lads has actually stormed the fans this season with some dazzling displays and with some internationals in Kebba Bah and Furmus Mendy among their ranks, Ports are a very decent side and difficult to break.
