Various Physical and Health Education teachers across the Greater Banjul and Western Region completed a two day coaching clinic organised by Gambia Athletic Association.

The two day course was organised by the country’s Athletics Association at the Independence Stadium in Bakau and was conducted by Alhagie Dodou Capi Joof, the Executive Secretary of the GAA.

“The two day athletic coaching clinic was meant to capacitate physical and health education teachers on the latest coaching techniques in athletics as well as update them on how to manage athletes and injuries” Alagie Darboe, the Secretary General of the Gambia Senior Secondary School Sports Association told reporters afterwards.

He said his association is aware of the need for such training annually before schools are involved in the annual inter-house athletics championships in their respective schools.

The clinic was started with teachers from the Greater Banjul area on Saturday and the teachers from the Western Region on Sunday and in the weeks to come, it will be moved to the provinces starting with the North Bank Region and Lower River Region on the 25th in Farafenni while the Upper and Central River Regions will have theirs on the 26th in Bansang.
