Nielsen downs Mendy to retain WBA Inter-Continental middleweight title

Patrick Nielsen retained his WBA Inter-Continental middleweight title with a hard-fought twelve round unanimous decision over Gambian Patrick Mendy.
The scores were 117-110, 117-110, 117-111 but it looked closer than that. Mendy was down in the fifth and although it looked more like a slip it was ruled a knockdown.

Gambia boxer Patrick Mendy (14-5, 1 KO) has predicted to “destroy” Patrick Nielsen (17-0, 8 KOs) and take his WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Title when they clash at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg on Saturday night.
“There is a reason why I am called ‘The Tiger’,” Mendy said at a press conference at Blue Water Dokken. “I am strong, I am hard to hit and I am tough to put down. I have come all the way to Esbjerg to destroy Nielsen. He is in trouble.”

Badou Jack set for February 2 fight

Gambian Super Middleweight boxer Badou Jack will return to action on February 2nd at the Cosmopolitan Casino in Las Vegas after a brief layoff while sorting out a contractual dispute.
Jack’s last fight took place in May when he had less than stellar split decision victory over Alexander Brand on ShoBox and he said that all of his skills will be on display on Saturday at the luxury resort casino and hotel that broke ground in October 2005 just south of the Bellagio on the west side of the Las Vegas Strip.

Gambian Super middleweight boxer Patrick ‘The Tiger’ Mendy is set to travel to Denmark next month to take on WBA Intercontinental champion Patrick Nielsen in a boxing fight.
The title fight will take place at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg on February 9 and the 22-year-old Gambian is confident he can upset his unbeaten opponent on his own turf.

Yusupha Jaiteh resigns as Gambia boxing president

The President of the Gambia Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), Yusupha Jaiteh has tendered his resignation as head of the association, Gambia Sports Online can reveal.
The scandal-prone Gambia Boxing Association has had a new image crisis to fight as a group of boxers put on their gloves to take on the executive committee led by Yusupha Jaiteh who the boxers accuse of not working in their interests and that boxing is therefore on the decline, accusations Jaiteh denies.
