The game sparked controversy in the 25 minute of the first half when Gamtel’s Hamang Conteh brought done Real de Banjul’s Modou Njie Sarr inside the box but the referee turned a blind eye to the event and let play to continue.

Both teams created a number of goal scoring chances but none were able to go into the locker room with an advantage.

Coming into the second half, both teams picked up from where they left up and it was not until in the 54th minute when Real de Banjul’s Baboucarr Savage had a wonderful chance to put his team ahead but he couldn’t connect with the goal post as his shot went just wide.

Two minutes later, Gamtel’s captain Matarr Nyan triggered a shot outside of the penalty box but his shot just sailed wide. In the 70th minute, Real de Banjul’s Musa Balla Sowe had a brilliant chance to put his team through but he didn’t make use of the opportunity as his dinked ball sailed wide past Gamtel’s goalie Baka Ceesay.

Gamtel introduced talismanic striker Assan Ceesay and his counterpart Ali Sowe who were just from Nigeria after their trials at Enugu Rangers to help them secure the points but none was able to help out the team to get the maximum points as both teams settled for a draw.
