Jawo sent off in Syrianska's draw against Djurgården

It has been a week of contrasting fortunes for Gambians plying their trade in the top tier of Swedish football, Allsvenskan, as only one of them enjoyed a win with his team.

Viktor Prodell scored twice, including an 89th-minute equaliser, as Åtvidaberg secured a 3-3 draw at Pa Dibba’s GIF Sundsvall in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

The third-placed visitors looked to be heading towards defeat as goals from Fredrik Holster and Simon Helg had Sundsvall two goals up after just seven minutes. Magnus Eriksson pulled one back in the 37th minute, though, and Prodell equalised one minute before the break.

Substitute Johan Eklund made it 3-2 for the hosts with just five minutes remaining, but again they could not hold on as Prodell levelled yet again. The draw leaves Dibba’s Sundsvall at ninth on the Allsvenskan table with 17 points.

At the Södertälje Fotbollsarena, Omar Jawo was sent off in Syrianska’s 1-1 draw at home with Kebba Ceesay’s Djurgården. George Mourad put Syrianska ahead in the 32nd minute, but James Keene equalised six minutes into the second half.

Gambia international Omar Jawo was sent off in the 57th minute, only nine minutes after coming on, and Haris Skenderović also saw red in the 76th minute, however, Jawo’s Syrianska manage to hang on for a point. The draw leaves them at 11th on the standings with 17 points while Ceesay’s Djurgården are also on 17 but with a better goal margin.

Leaders Elfsborg IF of Omar’s brother, Amadou Jawo, were held to their first draw of the Allsvenskan campaign as they were held goalless at home against Mjällby at the Borås Arena.

The result sees them move six points clear at the top of the table, but that advantage will be cut in half should Malmo win their game in hand at Orebro tomorrow.

Finally at the Norrköpings Idrottspark, Modou Barrow’s Norrköping climbed up to fourth with a 2-1 victory over Kalmar. Abiola Dauda put the visitors ahead in the first half, but a second-half double from Heidar Thorvaldsson turned things around. Barrow only made it to the subs bench. With the win, they are now with 23 points.
