Kekuta Manneh named PDL Player of the week

The United Soccer League Premier Development League [PDL] announced its Team of the Week for the fourth week of the 2012 season today, honoring Austin Aztex forward Kekuta Manneh as Player of the Week after his four-goal performance led the Aztex to a 7-0 victory against the Texas Dutch Lions this past Thursday at House Park.

Kekuta Manneh entered the game with a pair of goals, the 17-year-old native of the Gambia having opened his account in the Aztex’s first game of the season, also against Texas, Thursday scored late in the first half to give Austin a 2-0 lead, then bagged a hat trick in 25 minutes after the break, his final goal coming in the 70th minute.

Considered a top college prospect for the Class of 2013, Manneh still has one more year of high school remaining to complete before he moves on, but thanks to his standout play in the PDL, colleges are getting a chance to see how he could quickly adapt to the rigors of the college game.
