Gambia draws Ghana in 2013 U-17 Qualifiers

Gambia U17 draws familiar foe, Ghana

The Gambia U-17 team have been paired with familiar foe, Ghana in the qualifiers for the 2013 Africa U-17 Championship to be hosted by Morocco.

The Baby Scorpions enter the qualifying campaign in the first round coach with Gambia hosting the first leg on the weekend of 19-21 October 2012 while the return clash in Accra will be played on the weekend of 2-4 November.

Gambia has a history with Ghana in the age competition after ending the Black Starlets’ hopes of a place at the 2009 tournament which was hosted by Algeria with Gambia ending up being crowned champions.

Gambia finished third in the 2011 Africa U-17 championship held in Rwanda with 3 points after a 1-0 win over Mali with Yusupha Sarr getting the winner.

Gambia are two-time African U-17 Champions with after winning the trophy in 2005 and 2009.
